Tesselate - 2016
Tesselate encompasses notions of fitting together and finding your place within a community and forms a kind of cultural map that celebrates the Marrickville area and its residents. This was a group show with two other artists at Chrissie Cotter Gallery in Marrickville. It was my first experience of producing collaborative work. The major collaborative work was a large, ‘quilted’ work on paper (comprised of smaller, triangular works by each artist, that have been pieced together). Triangle symbolised the three artists coming together to create a positive view of their community and the benefits of artistic (and non-artistic) collaboration. OK, I don't live in Marrickville but I have family there so I often am too.
